What’s New For the 2026 Mazda CX-5?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 has been completely redesigned for the model year. Taken as a whole, that is a lot for someone to get their arms around. So, what’s new for the 2026 Mazda CX-5? First, our most popular crossover SUV is larger with more interior space for people and cargo. Even more impressive is that the increase in size hasn’t negatively affected handling. Next, Mazda has implemented an all-new and more advanced infotainment system. Let’s take a closer look at the most important changes made to the new Mazda CX-5.

More Generous Passenger Cabin

Mazda stretched the new CX-5 to be longer and wider, adding about 4.5 inches to the overall wheelbase. This might not seem like a huge change, but the effect is nothing short of game-changing. The most obvious differences come with extra legroom for all passengers and additional cargo volume for hauling. Check out the differences in key measurements below.

 2026 CX-5  2025 CX-5
 Front Legroom (mm)  1,059  1,041
 Rear Legroom (mm)  1,013  1,005
Cargo Volume (L, rear seat up)   951  824
Cargo Volume (L, rear seat down)   1,883  1,645

Additionally, Mazda reimagined the SUV’s rear doors, making entry and egress easier for all rear passengers.

New Style Features

Providing a more comfortable and serene passenger cabin experience is always a goal of any Mazda redesign. The 2026 CX-5 accomplishes this by offering seven ambient interior lighting colour choices. On the outside of the new CX-5, Mazda introduced a new paint scheme, Navy Blue Mica.

Advanced Infotainment Technology

Many of us have become accustomed to connecting our smartphones to our vehicles to access several features, including navigation, hands-free calling, etc. The new Mazda infotainment system uses an Android-based system that allows users to download necessary apps directly to the vehicle, bypassing their phone’s storage entirely. The system can also still work with compatible versions of the iPhone as well, with wireless connectivity standard above the base trim grade.
